Eco Web Hosting is based in the East Midlands in the U.K. As a web hosting provider, they provide servers on sold state drives (SSD) to ensure high-performance. Whilst offering high performing servers, they do this at affordable costs whilst being eco conscious.

Having never heard of Eco Web Hosting before, I thought I’d check out what their users thought of them. People are becoming a lot more environmentally friendly in 2019 so I was interested to see if they were more than just eco-friendly.
The feedback on Eco Web Hosting’s Facebook page seems really positive. They have a total of 4.5/5 star reviews and appear to respond quickly to issues. I’ve seen a handful of posts where customer’s are reporting their site is down, but the staff are quick to try and resolve the problems.
It seems as though Eco Web Hosting take the time to look after their customers. I wasn’t sure how this host would fair considering they’re a green web host. I thought their focus would be entirely on the environment, meaning their customer service and performance would slip. Thankfully I’ve been proven wrong on the first point! Now it’s time to check out their performance.
I couldn’t find anything on Eco Web Hosting’s website regarding an uptime guarantee. This immediately rang alarm bells as I was dubious as to whether their servers would hold up to much. The only thing I could find on their site was their service status which reported no issues. I suppose this is a good place to see if there are any issues and what they are.
The only way I managed to find any information about their uptime was through a Google search. I typed in ‘Eco Web Hosting uptime’ and the results displayed the following. This suggests their uptime guarantee is 99.9%, but if you click on the link it just goes to their homepage.
I had to put their servers to the test myself to see what kind of performance they kicked out. I signed up to an Eco Web Hosting shared hosting plan from 99p per month. I installed WordPress using their 1-click install through their control panel (which was easy enough to do).
After monitoring my site with Eco Web Hosting for 1 month, I was really pleased to report a 100% uptime record! This is incredible and does actually match up to what they say (which I found through Google search). Next up I wanted to see how my unoptimised version of my WordPress site would fair in terms of response time.
I got an average response time of 286ms which is great! Considering I hadn’t optimised my site at all, I was very impressed. Way to go Eco Web Hosting! All of their servers are based in the U.K., so for someone like me this works really well. You can see from the performance results that their servers DO perform above and beyond!
Eco Web Hosting are founded on eco-friendly ethics. I wanted to explore some of the features they offer as well as looking into the environmental practices. It’s all well and good claiming that a business is eco-friendly, but I wanted to see the proof.
Our team is made up of hosting veterans who have worked for some of the biggest brands in the industry. We know what it takes to provide stable and fast web hosting, and we wanted to create a company that values quality products and exceptional customer service above acquisitions and sales figures.
Carbon Offset Planting (over 300 trees planted)
Green Business Practices (paperless operations and minimal travel)
Eco Friendly Technology (energy efficient servers)
As well as focusing on the environment, Eco Web Hosting offer a wealth of interesting features to compliment their web hosting. All of their plans come with a FREE SSL certificate (really useful), SSD drives (fast performance), and a 45-day money-back guarantee.
If that wasn’t enough to interest you, let’s take a look at some of their other features:
My experience with Eco Web Hosting has been really positive so far. Although I haven’t managed to test absolutely every aspect of the host (because it wasn’t available), they do rival some of the big names in the hosting world.
I’ve already reviewed some REAL time performance stats with Eco Web Hosting. However, it’s now time to look at their overall pros and cons to help you decide whether they’re right for you.
Server Performance: In my tests I was really surprised (pleasantly) to see how well Eco Web Hosting performed. They guarantee a 99.9% uptime but claim this is usually 100%. I can confirm that over a 30 day period I had no outages whatsoever. My uptime records were 100% and my server response times were WELL below 1 second.
Eco Friendly: It would seem that this host really is eco-friendly. They claim to have planted over 300 trees, use environmentally friendly servers, and minimise paper use and travel to work. So far so good, let’s hope this keeps up!
Customer Support: Although I couldn’t use their live chat service, Eco Web Hosting’s customer support have been nothing but friendly. Their knowledgeable staff are experts in their field and always respond within 24 hours.
Server Location: There’s currently no choice of server location. Though this works in favour for U.K. customers, it leaves no choice for other customers.
Pricey Advanced Plan: Their advanced plan is a little pricey at £9.99 per month (after the first month). When you compare what’s on offer against other web hosts, it would be considered expensive.
STARTER | STANDARD | ADVANCED | |

All of Eco Web Hosting’s pricing plans start at 99p per month for the first month. They then have their own individual pricing thereafter. All of their plans include a FREE SSL certificate as well as unlimited mailboxes with 10 GB storage each. Let’s take a look at each pricing plan separately to see what they have to offer.

You can pay for each plan annually and all of them include a 45-day money-back guarantee! Given my own experience, I don’t think you’ll need to cash in on that because I haven’t encountered any problems so far. The only thing I would say at this point is that their Advanced plan is on the pricey side considering the only REAL differences are the unlimited storage and websites.
Eco Web Hosting was one of those hosts that I wasn’t sure about at first. After diving in and experiencing them first hand, I would DEFINITELY recommend them. Not only are they environmentally friendly, which we should be focusing on in 2019, they’re pretty awesome too!
They offer a lot on their plans as well as nice free features like an SSL certificate, firewalls, and DDoS protection. I would say if you’re looking to host a small to medium sized website or business, you can’t go too far wrong with Eco Web Hosting.
Here’s a quick summary of Eco Web Hosting:
Awesome performance (100% uptime in my own tests)
Fast response times even on unoptimised websites
U.K. server location (great for those who target U.K. visitors)
Friendly support (their social media engagement is great)
Eco-friendly (they’ve planted over 300 trees already)
Free firewall (protecting your site is important)
Couldn’t access live chat support (in my own tests)
No choice of server location (not great if you’re not in the U.K.)
